A first showing of a collection of images of Pete, his wife Toshi, friends, the Sloop Clearwater and his banjo, taken by Econosmith. Covering the span from 1993 to 2013 in many venues including on his beloved Hudson River.

“The uniqueness of this collection is the unusual access we were allowed,” they said. “As the staff photographers for Clearwater and doing much of Pete’s work for over 10 years, there was comfort level between us, Pete and the other performers. That translated into our being present for sound checks, in the green room, on stage, backstage and even on the sloop.”

Many of the images capture moments in time of Pete with his friends. Some of those are Arlo Guthrie, Tom Paxton, George Wein, Josh White Jr, Peter Yarrow and others. Some images include Pete’s friends, Richie Havens, Odetta and Fred Hellerman, an original member of the Weavers, who are no longer with us.

Econosmith are known individually are Maxine Smith and John Economos, a wife and husband life and photographic team from Orleans, MA. They specialize in candid portraits and behind the scenes images of musicians. Their work has appeared worldwide in print, CBS, NBC, Discovery channel, books, documentaries, CD covers, web and more including two Grammy winning CD’s for Pete Seeger.
