New England Premiere
Thursday - Sunday June 3 - July 3
curtain: 8pm - Tickets: $15-$31

The Harbor 2010 season opens with the New England premiere of Colorado. Tracey, Miss Late Teen Colorado, has gone missing. Her brother, Travis, is coming of age with the assistance of TV talk shows. Mother, Grace, is obsessed with pies and her beauty trainer. Father, Ron, secretlly wishes to be in Cuba. Just your typical American family, in a sharp, dark comedy about American dreams and the traps set to keep those dreams far, far away.

Barnstable Patriot WHAT show mixes the humorous and the macabre by John Watters
"They're not exactly Ozzie and Harriet, but the dark, twisted Ackhart family tree sprouts many laughs as we visit them in "Colorado" playing at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater's Harbor Stage.

Harbor Impresario Brendan Hughes unleashes his talented repertory troupe in this New England premiere to great success. The play, written by West Coast playwright Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, provides plenty of perverse material that the Harbor ensemble eagerly sinks their teeth into. The end result is a outlandishly humorous and macabre evening of theater that's right up WHAT's alley."

Cape Cod Chronicle An Edgy And Twisted View Of Contemporary America In WHAT's 'Colorado' by Ellen Petry Whalen
"Word seems to be getting out about WHAT's professional Harbor Stage. The intimate theater's edgy season opener, "Colorado," was packed to the gills on Saturday and summer isn't even in full swing yet. A big part of this demand is that this is the third summer director Brendan Hughes and his synergistic acting troupe of six are back to entertain the Cape with their combined comic genius throughout the season...

"Colorado's" satirical edge and twisted, yet insightful, view of contemporary America not only hits the funny bone but also the heart of the perfectly packaged, dysfunctional family. If you enjoy an insightful, unpredictable black comedy, this show will not disappoint."

Provincetown Banner: Colorado Reveals Its Peaks of Laughter by Sue Harrison
"The ensemble troupe is back at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater and it looks like they are cooking up a summer of fun down at the Harbor Stage. This summer's opening production of Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's "Colorado" is a fast-paced two-act comedy about a family and what goes wrong when each member's very different dreams of life collide...

Amanda Collins plays Tracey Ackhart, the 17-year-old Miss Late Teen Colorado who is days away from the national competition in her late teen category when she disappears, dropping her family into chaos.

It's funny, fast and well worth a trip down to the old original WHAT venue. And, admit it, you want to know what happened to Tracey." Read full review (requires Acrobat Reader.)

Cape Cod Times: 'Colorado' sharp satire of shallow values by Debbie Forman
"The American Dream of beauty, fame, fortune and love is displayed as a tarnished ideal in Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's "Colorado." In fact, the playwright turns that dream into something of a nightmare as we see the Ackhart family disintegrate when their daughter wins the "Miss Late Teen Colorado" title that will advance her to the nationals.

Nachtrieb's play, at Wellfleet Harbor ActorsTheater's Harbor Stage, is an astute black comedy that verges on farce.

Brendan Hughes directs a superb cast of four in this dynamic production... 'Colorado' is stinging satire that provokes laughter as we see how ridiculous this supposedly normal suburban family is and how foolish they've become by investing in some of the most shallow values in American culture. Nachtrieb makes us laugh at them as we wonder whether we are also laughing at our selves."
